Nicolas Ghesquière has dedicated his collection to youth and their experimenting ways Reinventing the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram in a DIY spirit!
The embodiment of youthful nonchalance, coupled with Nicolas Ghesquière’s elegant vision – the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2022 collection showed a very experimental approach. In his note of intent, the creative director of the women’s department explained that he wanted “an excursion into a perceptible, fleeting, and decisive moment when everything comes to the fore, in all its innocence and insight…”

And it is in the unique use of the Louis Vuitton monogram that we see this approach. On a very DIY trunk, a flowery brocade covers up what is undoubtedly the most iconic piece in the repertoire of French leather goods. A bold and aesthetically committed gesture that highlights the versatility of the Louis Vuittonmonogram.

As for the clothes, a combination of materials, lengths and effects revealed the collection’s references to youth… With, as a bonus, the impertinence of youth when it comes to bringing together styles and eras which are not necessarily harmonious at first sight. Highlight of this collection is a tribute to photographer David Smith with signature portraits printed on polos and shirts. Icon of the 90s, Smith gave another meaning to fashion with a vision dedicated to a more raw aesthetic!
