Yes, Nicolas Stohrer would have invented the baba au Rhum to allow the Polish King Stanislas, exiled in the east of France, to savor a local pastry that he considered too dry. Once settled in Paris, Stohrer continued to experiment with rum until he invented the rum baba, as we know it!
