Donatella just presented her Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection this week during Paris’ Fashion Week. From the Atelier Versace line, it’s definitely the glamorous spirit of old Hollywood that the brand is hoping to revive.
Profound colors issues forth from sumptuous and ever-so-noble materials craft the intention of an original Odyssey: a femme fatale draped in a rock’n’roll allure touched off by a hint of Italian glamour. From this collection of alterations, where dresses are cut out, lingerie peeks out underneath alligator skin, and crystal is encrusted in mink, emanates Donatella’s couture and sensual signature. And this year, she’s decided to put down endless strips of strass crochets and eyelets as flanges or buttonholes. Both a minidress and an overgarment with a now-you-see-me-now-you-don’t dynamic, the look astounds and suspends the regard with its anatomic layout. The vision, colored sapphire blue, in its cutout, reveals the most sensual areas of the female body: the shoulder, between the breasts, and the collarbone. Covering the sculptural silhouette up to the neck, it isn’t just a lascivious approach that Donatella is working towards.
