The first Arthur Ashe style appeared in 1964. After a noteworthy collection with select designer boutique Colette, Le Coq Sportif is releasing a new version of its iconic tennis shoe. In taking inspiration from the chic and elegant universe of tennis shoes, the name Arthur Ashe seemed a natural fit. Le Coq Sportif would imagine the Arthur Ashe in accordance with criteria set by the most demanding tennis professionals. Elaborated with the help of Ashe himself, the shoe unites comfort, lightness, and flexibility to adapt itself to difficult terrain such as clay courts. The Arthur Ashe would continue to evolve until the early 80s, during which time it attained its most elegant incarnation by taking on asphalt terrains.
Today, just like the original style, the Arthur Ashe is being released in a white leather version with a subtle touch of color at the heel – navy blue, red, or bronze. Just like the rivets, the style’s signature is etched in gold. Red white and blue edging, the brand’s timeless signature, inhabits the tongue… An authentic, modern, and dangerously desirable piece that’s been up for grabs since February 15th.
