Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2013; two new vintages which admirably capture the oomph of the 2013 year, at the discretion of Moët & Chandon’s masterful expertise.

Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2013: Vintages of a Notable Year

Benoît Gouez, Master Cellar at Moët & Chandon, has managed to bottle the entirety of the oomph and irregularity of the year 2013. The result? Two exceptional vintages, the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2013 and the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Rosé 2013.

“To elaborate a Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage is like working with photo negatives; you can distinguish the shapes and outlines, you can trust in the result, but you can never be sure of what the post-development picture will look like.”, declares Benoît Gouez, Master Cellar at Moët & Chandon.

Even more so for the year 2013, a double-sided symbol for the Moët & Chandon house.

2013 marked the 270th anniversary of the house, and it seems that Nature wanted to celebrate the core of the Moët & Chandon expertise when it comes to elaborating its vintages; to create in a cold climate. Indeed, as 2013 announced the return of October wine harvests.

The early winter climate delayed the vegetative cycle and subsequently led to a later october harvest; for Master Cellar Benoît Gouez, the weather conditions led to a free and bold interpretation of 2013.

The brand’s 75th vintage since 1842, an evident challenge, was dealt with by an ingenious Master Cellar; every grand vintage holds its originality and its character from what it can reveal about its unique year’s own character.

“We easily could have elaborated a vintage centered around a dominant Chardonnay. However, we boldly decided to magniff the Pinots Noirs, carefully selected, which devomnstrated an exceptional chiseled structure. This is why the Grand Vintage 2013 is composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.”, specifies Benoît Gouez.

Grand Vintage 2013: Two Masterful Vintages

Thus, The Grand Vintage 2013 reveals chiseled and energetic aromas. Around its Chardonnay (41%), Pinot Noir (38%), and Pinot Meunier (21%) assembly, it convinces us of tasting the iconic Moët & Chandon style extra brut champagnes.

The Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Rosé 2013 is a generous, spiced-fruit hued champagne. Like its sibling, its blend of Pinot Noir (44%, 14% of which is red wine), Chardonnay (35%), and Pinot Meunier (21%), distills the grandeur and the exceptional character that is to be expected from Moët & Chandon’s 44th Rosé vintage.
