The pursuit of excellence has always been at the heart of the Clos du Mesnil domain, where the founder of Krug posed his suitcases one day in 1843. He had imagined viticultural processes that were never-before-seen at the time to be able to offer an exceptional experience to tasters, a more admirable path, out of the ordinary and far from banal. This taste signature is the fruit of an alliance of 120 wines from 10 different vintage years that have all aged for at least 15 years in the domain’s cellars. This champagne contains an unprecedented richness, aromas and fruity flavors for a fine finished product tinted with an acidity that is fully characteristic of this divine liquid.
The flavors that the palace captures are multiple in Krug’s mythic Grande Cuvée. You can indeed capture notes of hazelnut, nougat, and even barley sugar as a counterbalance to flavors of fruit preserves and citruses. When you poke your nose into the bottle, a burst of ripe fruity accents and gingerbread will lightly waft out to surprise you. This harmony was reworked this year with the demands and subtleness of the greatest of sommeliers to bring us the same pleasure and a journey into spheres of air.
Krug indulgently teamed up with some great French chefs who took on the challenge of pairing the famous Grande Cuvée with one of 3 ingredients: ginger, jabugo ham, or parmesan cheese, suggested by the domain for this exercise in style. This gourmet Tour de France constitutes a real challenge where chefs will be able to show how to perfect a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée with simplicity or sophistication. Delicate pairings for a delicious French-style tasting with this wine: a symbol of prestige and envied the world over. This exercise in style will take place in several restaurants scattered throughout France’s biggest cities.
