Organized to benefit research against Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the fifth edition of the Only Watch auction will this year take place on September 28th in Monaco. Just the occasion for Chanel to present the first copy of its luxury “Tourbillon Volant” watch. A unique piece manufactured in Switzerland, it undertakes a new minimalist approach to design and reuses the exceptional camellia tourbillon volant that makes the whole clock tick. A white gold case who’s caseband is encrusted with 92 sparkling diamonds, a black ceramic bezel, a bracelet sold in black crocodile skin but this time presented in black satin; all said, it’s a unique piece made with an exceptional tourbillon.

Its manual winding mechanical movement allows it 40 hours of running reserve, enough to take the time to admire this timepiece’s extraordinary subtlety. Because, just as the beauty of something often escapes the eye, so too the camellia is hinted at, with its mesh petals and diamond-lined heart, a whispered secret, looping through one rotation per minute. This aesthetic and technical prowess allowed Chanel Horlogerie to take home Geneva’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie in the “Women’s Watch” category in 2012 for the Première Tourbillon Volant. This is a magnificent item to get your hands on in Monaco, and a guilt-free one too. But not difficulty-free, since the watch is only going home with the highest bidder.
