This spring, Guerlain is giving its legendary Habit Rouge a new home: a limited edition collectors box that pays homage to the rules of the brand.
Almost 50 years after its initial creation, the luxury brand continues to supplement the history of this mythical perfume. From stitched red leather to cavalry vibes and an embossed logo, this most contemporary of Guerlain classics is being given a new temporary home this spring. The story is the same, but it’s being told differently this time, albeit loyally to its cavalry origins of yesteryear.
Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1965, Habit Rouge was the first Oriental perfume for men. Inspired by a knight’s journey to Rambouillet, France, this complex and bold composition with vanilla notes upset all the rules of perfumery. Orange, lime, bergamot, and neroli are recognizable as the first notes. But because it’s so versatile and surprising, Habit Rouge is never the same, occasionally revealing its leathery airs, spicy scents, powdery aspects, vanilla, or patchouli. Exciting, sophisticated, this fragrance only took a few years to become one of Guerlain’s emblems.
Alternately warm and vanilla-y, Habit Rouge is genius in the contrasts and emotions it masters. Complex and constructed, it incarnates all the perfection of an elegant man who’s allure combines sophistication and sensuality: the Guerlain man.
