Its story takes root in 1955, when the designer, beyond wanting to dress women in his elegant creations, became absorbed by contemplating the perfect face. This color so imbued with sensuality and elegance that was destined to adorn the lips of the fairer sex became something of a signature for him. Christian Dior advised women to apply a touch of it to reveal their true colors just like their true allure, in order to became the angelically borne and sophisticated Dior woman of lore.
This season, just for the release of the Trianon palette, an homage to a castle inaugurated in 1769 by the Comtesse du Barry, Dior is inaugurating a line of four new shades with regal names. The bright pinks that Dior likes to pair with fresh and colorful makeup borrow names from the 18th century, bringing “Rouge Courtisane” side by side with “Rose Crinoline” to crown a “Souveraine” in all her “Allégresse”. The names given to each of these stylish wonders ring out like a call to modern elegance, bringing us towards the natural but groomed beauty of Marie-Antoinette.
