In 1818, for her son Czar Alexander I’s birthday, Russian Empress Maria put an order in with Hennessy for a spirit that would be colored gold. Today, the same precious spirits that made up this beverage are once more being taken from Paradis, the name of the cellar where these treasures were stocked. The goal: compose the ultimate cognac, where the only thing that counts is “elegance and a great subtlety, for they constitute absolute rareness”. Hennessy has dubbed this Cognac Paradis Impérial. A blend of ancient spirits that relies on the complete removal of any and every creative barrier.
The result? A fine, ambery color and a flavor that stays in your mouth. This exquisite and divine nectar tickles the nose with a surprising freshness. In the mouth, it’s just as dazzling. Floral aromas like orange blossom and jasmine are revealed through spicy and smoky accents. This liquid never seems to fade from the palette, its echos dancing on it long after the first sip. This spirit has a singular elegance and complexity. Hennessy entrusted the creation of its case to young designer Stéphanie Balinila. The faceted bottle is closed up with a crystal stopper who’s collarette is covered with an 18 carat gold layer. The case is placed in a box made of fine materials, while the bottle’s design is an echo to costumes of the imperial entourage. All in all, Hennessy’s Paradis Impérial cognac surpasses the greatest of tastings in recent memory.
