Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni – Arco
2,450.00 €
Icon-Icon Opinion :
We owe the design of the mythical Arco floor lamp to the duo of Italian designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castegliono for the house Flos. And if the object of light has become so iconic, it is first and foremost for its levitating structure. A floating lamp, as beautiful as it is fascinating. A true museum piece, too, since it is part of the permanent collection of MoMA!
Name of the product : Arco
Designer : Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
Description : The Arco floor lamp is a design classic par excellence and as such, an element of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1962, the brothers Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni created the arc lamp for the manufacturer Flos. In their design, which originated from a simple street lantern, they combined the advantages of a floor lamp and a suspension lamp.

Paul, an aspiring composer, and his sister Vincent, an amateur videographer, all work at the Hotel Caiette. One evening, while waiting for the arrival of the New York billionaire Jonathan Alkaitis, the manager discovers with horror a tag engraved on one of the transparent walls: “What if you swallow broken glass?” Who is the author of this threatening graffiti? Is it intended for someone?
In this luxury haven, people meet, destinies are made and fall apart. At the Caiette Hotel, but also in Vancouver and New York, lives will take an unexpected and often dramatic turn. As a butterfly in Brazil can cause a storm in Texas, a drink at the Hotel Caiette bar can ruin an existence…
