Yanina couture is grandiose in that it enjoys a unique charm and an aura imbued with mystery – but without founder Yulia Yanina, there would be none of this. Imbued with the essence of the great Russia of yesteryear, poets and choreographers today seem to guide her hand towards an inordinate love for beautiful fabrics. This self-avowed romanticism can be felt right down to the details in the Fall/Winter 2016 collection.
To open the runway show, Deborah Hung, married to a Hong Kong billionaire, incarnates Yanina’s ideals in a très couture white dress. This is the brand’s stylized invitation to the Russian ballet. A couture interpretation of Swan Lake orchestrates silhouettes with their heads held high and dresses composed of sublime emplacements of tutu tulle, embroideries, taffetas, and velour…
Enchanted and poetic, a light beauty takes flight while the dress’ graphicness also reaches arabesque new heights. The elegant fabrics are borne by pearl and silvery grays, while cloudy shades house embroideries that bring the collection up into the ranks of bonafide fantasy. A smashing success
