If there’s one thing Christopher Bailey isn’t lacking in, it’s boldness. With a desire to play with the joys of color, or just the joys of fashion actually, Burberry’s creative director signed off on a collection that is like an idealized vision of an English summer. Earth tones, oversized calligraphies, letterings, large insects, and birds crisscrossed their way down the Fashion Week runway in London. Bailey dug these illustrations out of old ornithology and entomology tomes to hand print them on authentic British fabrics.
And for the first time in the history of the trenchcoat, each trench has its own color, its own motif, and its own approach to becoming an icon. A motley crew indeed.
