Since its founding in 1874, Piaget made sure to have the means to materialize its boldest and most successful ideas. From design to production, Piaget’s timepieces are fully borught to life by both the watchmaking factories including one near Neuchâtel and one in Geneva. The research, development, manufacture, assembly and adjustment are performed with a patience that belongs only to the scholar, Piaget. For it is in the manner of learning that the house constantly maintains its lead in what has become , over the years , his specialty . The ultra-thin watches are thus the result of a passion for finesse, a passion propelling Piaget to develope new templates each year a mechanism of a minimalism. In 1960, this race lead the way to the Calibre 12P , the world’s thinnest automatic movement with its 2.3 mm thickness. In the late 90s, the strength of its supremacy in the field of ultra-thin, Piaget launched a collection of extra-thin watches : inspired by model 9P 1957 , the Altiplano wants the symbol of elegance of classicism and purity that, sometimes, reveals the mechanical lace through a housing with sapphire crystals on the front and bottom, in its skeleton.
By constantly pushing the boundaries of the infinitely small, taking the time to reason his creations, Piaget always produces very different timepieces from its competitors. On September 12th , the manufacture of Haute Timepieces presented at the SIHH 2013 two new models each sign a double record in their category: Altiplano 40mm Date . Another milestone in the long history of the brand in the ultra-thin watches, already basking many records finesse movements or enclosures. Architected into three levels, true to the tradition of biased indicators, this alligator wristwatch was destined to become a pure classic, and was presented exclusively at the Printemps Haussmann. Thus in its very refined aspects , this gem hinted at its caliber of rare complexity. With its 43 mm case diameter, fashioned in white gold , set with 72 diamonds or not , the Altiplano 40mm Date flirts closely with the purity of timeless. Another reference shows that, with a few thousand pieces, it handled the most distinct luxury.
