Saddle up! Gucci is once again proving that it knows a thing or two about equestrian sports. Frida Giannini, Creative Director for the Florentine label, and a horse enthusiast herself, has conceived a capsule collection specially dedicated to women everywhere.

The starting point for the line was an exclusive wardrobe created by the brand for Edwina Tops-Alexander, number one in the world for horse-jumping. The collection is decidedly no-frills, but what it does have is an undeniable attention to detail and a certain savoir-faire. On the menu: clothes made of innovative and comfortable fabrics, with Gucci’s signatures present and accounted for. Inspired by the world of horse-riding, these signatures include the brand’s coat of arms, telltale colored stripes, and of course, the legendary horse bit.

A big first: the design house, long associated with the athletic elegance of the equestrian universe, is finally coming out with accessories for jockeys that unite form and function: black velvet riding helmets, nappa gloves, leather boots, and chic horsewhips and saddle pads. The faultless quality and estheticism claimed by these pieces will no doubt please even the most demanding of riders.
