The first volume of an exhaustive and meticulous trilogy that retraces the entire career of the Rolling Stones, this book looks back at the conditions in which they went from being a cover band founded by Brian Jones in 1962 to an internationally renowned pop group contributing to the British Invasion from 1965 onwards, notably via the compositions of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, including the famous “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. Little by little, the Mick/Keith duo took over the leadership of Brian Jones but the balance between their composition work and his contribution in psychedelic experiments still holds, especially on the first successful albums that are Aftermath and Between The Buttons. At the end of 1967, Brian Jones’ private and musical problems made him slip into the background of the Rolling Stones. Released in December 1967, Their Satanic Majesties Request is the last testimony of this double influence and closes the pop chapter of the band.
