Jean-Louis Sieff, like all great photographers, is not a voyeur, yet he scrutinizes in the deepest sense. His relationship with Yves Saint Laurent was long and intimate. It is thanks to this that he was able to make him pose naked, forget his fame and treat him as a studio model.

It was Yves who had the idea for this photo. Jeanloup shared it immediately, and the prints presented in this book show how the photographer gradually captures his model in a challenging pose. The complicity between the couturier and the photographer spanned several years, from fashion shots to portraits, and never faded. Jeanloup Sieff was an inspired photographer, which did not prevent him from being rigorous. He put his high standards at the service of his creation and will remain as the best observer of his time and his perfect witness.
