The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) rewards the excellence of international watchmaking production. Every year in November, the committee makes its final decision – the most breathtaking and ingenious creations are thus honored along with the most influential actors in the watchmaking universe. Leading up to the final decision, the GPHG brings the pre-selected watches to the four corners of the Earth for a traveling exhibit – in Seoul, Rome, Dubai, and Geneva, audiences were able to discover and admire the finest pieces in contemporary watchmaking.

On November 8, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève was awarded to Chanel for the fourth time. The Première Squelette Camélia Calibre 2 took the precious trophy in the women’s category. For the 30th anniversary of the Première watch, Chanel did indeed push the limits of its watchmaking vision. The Première Squelette Camélia is an exceptional piece brought to life by Chanel’s second movement, the Calibre 2. Its most unique feature is that an airy geometry depicts a camellia.

Imagined by the brand’s Studio de Création Horlogerie on the Place Vendôme, the Calibre 2 was conceived with a complexity that allows different mechanisms to superimpose themselves, leaving only the camellia flower visible in three dimensions. Made in an absolute black, the skeleton movement gives life to one of Chanel’s lucky charms. This exceptional craftsmanship combines with all the tradition of the house on rue Cambon.
