After stepping out with the ambitious Ferrari Sapphire, Hublot is once more rising to the difficult challenge of working with this particular gem. The extremely complex stone gives the new Hublot piece a practically perfect resistance to scratches, that is to say, the only thing that can scratch it is diamond. The casing, case band, and bezel are entirely cut in polished black sapphire all while remaining waterproof up to 50 meters. Only a few pieces are made of titanium: the screws, the silicone encapsulated crown, and the buckle. This admirable feat becomes even more so as sapphire has rarely been cut on such a large scale before. 500 copies are anticipated for the Big Bang Unico Sapphire.
“Hublot’s strength resides in its clearly defined identity: the art of fusion, the unique power to create watches that combine tradition and innovation.” Certainly iconic but now spectacular and precious as well, this piece is a true work of art. Completely cultivated in see-through skeleton ribbing, it unveils all the inner workings of the Unico manufacturer’s movement. This 100% visible movement with a column wheel positioned on the dial side is no longer the only unique feature to be observed. The see-through and black motif continues on the bracelet, lined and structured with a titanium buckle.
The industrial mastery of this extremely complex gem is not the only feat that the Big Bang offers. This automatic flyback timer complete with a 72 hour battery life reserve is, among others things, equipped with a column wheel and a double clutch. It possesses a sapphire mirrored surface with interior/exterior antireflection treatment and the logo Hublot, along with hands that feature a black luminescent coating. This reinvented all black concept is a smashing success.
