Before making luxury history as a legendary timepiece, this marvel of watchmaking was initially a timer designed in 1963 by Swiss watchmaker Jack Heuer for professional race car drivers. A fervent follower of automobiles, the name Carrera comes from the legendary Mexican “Carrera Panamericana” race that Heuer wanted to pay homage to. “The simplicity of the name – elegant, dynamic, easy to pronounce in every language and filled with emotions. I knew that my new timer would be the best of homages in honor of this legend.” Today, the mythic and avant-garde watchmaking brand has once again tapped into its own excellence for a new Carrera collection. This model has for more than 50 years now been incarnating the very essence of TAG Heuer style: sporty and incredibly precise in its conception.
This Swiss watchmaker with an innate sense of innovation broke all the rules of watchmaking with the highly anticipated Tourbillon Chrono COSC Certifié with a titanium and carbon volant and titanium casing. The Carrera Heuer 01 is also the first manufacturer’s timepiece to be available for less than 5,000 CHF, a gauge of accessible luxury for TAG Heuer. Added to exceptional design is truly revolutionary technology. The Carrera Heuer 02T offers 28’800 rotations/hour, a single cylinder, timer functionalities, automatic rewinding capacity, and a tourbillon volant housed within a diameter of 32 mm with a maximum spacing of the counters that offers both modernity and visual equilibrium. It took no less than four watchmakers to hand-craft the light tourbillon that houses the industrial frame developed to optimize assembly.
The Black Phantom version is limited to 250 numbered copies. Even more sporty thanks to its bracelet made of crocodile leather sewn onto rubber and that’s waterproof up to 100 meters, the Black Phantom is now even more resistant to shocks. As for the Carrera Heuer-01, it’s an homage to founder Edouard Heuer. It symbolizes with the number 1 the development that the original 1887 calibre has since undergone. This style is adorned with a new generation TAG Heuer casing and is created in titanium carbide-lined steel that makes it more resistant. Its design nevertheless remains pure and audacious with details like the attention-grabbing mechanism’s red-columned wheel. TAG Heuer is rising to the occasion once more by remaining at the cutting edge of technology all while keeping production costs low and remaining loyal to its avant-garde philosophy.
