Piaget’s spirit of initiative and innovation is tied to the freedom and non-conformism of the 60s and 70s. A decade of artistic liberation expressed in the watchmaking world through the use of unexpected materials and the exploration of new ways to wear it. Piaget knew how to wrap this liberty of tone up into a timepiece: the Altiplano, launched in 1998. The watchmaker’s technical genius allowed it to become an icon with a strong identity; pure lines, a sober dial, and double or single index hands. A fine watch, in short. At the SIHH 2015, the myth is being transformed into a chic and urban “must have” around six new references with gold bracelets.
This is the first time that the ultra-thin Altiplano timepieces have been equipped with a gold bracelet. Conceived for both him and her, the new Altiplano collection juggles rose and grey gold with two different diameters and either a polished or encrusted bezel. And the Piaget Altiplano Chronographe style sets a double record in the domain of ultra-thin, since the manufacturer used components that are thinner than a hair to make it. The result is only 4.65 mm thick. A pure design that, upon contact with an integrated buckle, reenforces its refined character to attain present day chic and timeless elegance, finesse and refined discretion.
