Icon-Icon Opinion :

It is the catalogue of the event exhibition that revealed a new and little-anticipated side of the contemporary art troublemaker that is Damien Hirst.

Author : Collectif, Damien Hirst

Title : Cerisiers en fleurs

Publishing House: Fondation Cartier

Release date : June 2021

In spring 2021, the Fondation Cartier for modern art will present an exhibition dedicated to the last series of paintings by Damien Hirst, Cherry Blossoms.
Started in 2018, the Cherry Blossoms series is on the line with many other series by the artist composed of colored dots, such as Spot Paintings (1986-2011), Visual Candy (1993-1995), Colour Spaces Paintings (2016) and Veil Paintings (2017). At once a diversion and homage to the pictorial art of the 19th and 20th centuries, it also marks the artist’s return to the studio and explores, always in a conceptual approach, the question of beauty in painting, color and excess.
