Piaget is celebrating more than a half century of virtuosity with a new style that goes back to the sources of their success. The master of ultra-thin is going back to their inimitable signature, since become the emblem of a promise of innovation and performance. Materially, the attention payed to the aesthetics, the love devoted to the technique, have made this brand a master in luxury and the minute art of Swiss watchmaking. And Piaget continues to rack up successes worthy of an avant-garde performance: the first manually-winding ultra-thin movement, the 9P, was created by them. Measuring only 2mm in height, it was a true technical feat for the era. It’s with the memory of this first success that the Piaget Altiplano 38mm 900P bears its name. And today, Piaget is digging deep into its history that’s rich in extraordinary inventions to find the DNA for a style that’s made to push the boundaries of the impossible a bit further.
Today, in a time of extreme performance, Piaget is betting on turning towards the past for reliability while reaching out to touch the future with their fingertips at the same time. The result is fascinating: the Piaget Altiplano 38 mm 900P is able to attain perfection and discretion with time that flows by with a precision that’s down to the millisecond. To achieve a width of 3.65mm, Piaget fused its two manufacturers, one based in the Côte-aux-fées making the movements and the other in Plan-les-Ouates exclusively devoted to the object’s design. Like a symphony of exigent and precise crafts, this timepiece is neither just a movement, nor just a casing – but rather both at the same time. Worked down to the very last detail, it features mechanical elements made visible thanks to the modification of certain elements. The movement is therefore reversed, the dial reduced, the mechanical system is spread around. This is where the mechanism is revealed, with an ever present attention to aesthetic. The poetry is in the details.
