Land Rover Range Rover Sport : The Big come Back

Land Rover has just introduced the third generation of its Range Rover Sport. Presented as “more desirable, more technologically advanced and more efficient”, this model gives pride of place to hybrid engines. A 100% electric version is already planned for 2024.

Two PHEV engines are in the game and make 440 and 510 horsepower. A powerful 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 530 horsepower tops the range, while six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 250 to 400 horsepower complete the set.

Aesthetically, the third-generation Range Rover Sport evolves smoothly, with some small changes on the front and rear. The optics are generally thinner and a black band joins the two lights at the rear.

“Our new Range Rover Sport fully embraces our modernist approach to automotive design while amplifying its sporty and confident character,” said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s designer.

The Range Rover Sport is 4.95 metres long, 1.82 metres high and 2.0 metres wide. Its wheelbase is 3.0 meters and its trunk volume is announced to be around 647 liters.

In the cockpit, the new Range Rover Sport evolves and is build like its older brother, the Range Rover. Almost everything has been redesigned, starting with the steering wheel, centre console, dashboard and 13.7-inch digital dashboard.. The 13.1-inch center screen appears to be “sitting” on the dashboard. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is based on the EVA 2.0 architecture that supports the SOTA system, or Software Over The Air which allows you to receive updates remotely.

Thanks to the MLA Flex platform, Land Rover promises that its Range Rover Sport offers “the most attractive and dynamic driving experience ever.” The car is equipped with the Dynamic Response Pro for active roll control. It also features all-wheel drive, steered rear wheels and air suspension that introduces air springs with switchable volume for the first time. The pressure inside the air cushions can therefore vary for optimal comfort and maneuverability.

The new Range Rover Sport will be produced exclusively at the Solihull factory in the UK alongside the Range Rover and is now available for order.
