To date, there is only one monograph by Anselm Kiefer, that of Daniel Arasse published fifteen years ago at Editions du Regard, translated into English and German, and which has been the subject of numerous reissues, notably in paperback.
This second monograph is therefore necessary if we consider the development of the work of Kiefer – the first plastic artist appointed holder of the chair of artistic creation at the Collège de France – and the major exhibitions dedicated to him in recent years: “Chevirat Ha-Kelim” at the Salpêtrière chapel in 2000, Monumenta 2007 and the important retrospective of the Royal Academy of Arts in London held in autumn 2014.
