An unprecedented dive into the work of this secretive and intimate designer – this beautiful book promises hours of reading pleasure as its contents are as exquisite and shimmering as the creations of Dries Van Noten.
Authors: Pamela Golbin, Hamish Bowles, Susannah Frankel, Koen de Waal.
Publishing House: Editions Les Arts Décoratifs
Publishing Date: 4 March 2014
Description :This book brings together the elements that are the source of inspiration for the Belgian designer Dries Van Noten: references borrowed from fashion, painting, photography, cinema or music, from the East as well as the West, make up a sort of personal collection, like the Renaissance’s rooms of wonders. The creations of Dries Van Noten are next to the fashion collections of the Arts Décoratifs, but also a Venus by Yves Klein, an image from the film Orange mécanique or a portrait of David Bowie… Between them, relationships of analogy or confrontation are established, sometimes surprising, always rich in evocation. This book is an extension of this journey into the visual intimacy of the creator, inviting us to enter his daily life through photographs by Koen de Waal that reveal Dries Van Noten’s house and garden, the main places of his inspiration. The book closes with a pictorial summary of all of his collections since 1986 – some of which are among the most striking shows of the last two decades – making it the definitive reference work on Dries Van Noten.
