The odyssey began in 1921, in a small workshop in Florence. Guccio Gucci laid the foundations for the Florentine fashion house with the double G, the green-red-green stripe, the stirrup, and bamboo. These are all so iconic that they now identify the brand above and beyond fashions and seasons. The horsebit is one of the most emblematic of Gucci’s signatures. At Baselworld, Frida Giannini, creative director for Gucci, breathed a bit of modernity into this equestrian emblem by putting it on some of the label’s new bling: steel watches with a jewelry vibe. Presented for the first time in the 50s, the horsebit motif was originally borrowed from the equestrian past times of the Florentine high society. Put on shoes, used on accessories and jewelry, the horsebit symbol is now this season being reinterpreted in the elegant Horsebit watch collection.

By pairing the emblematic horsebit motif with steel, creative director Frida Giannini is signing off on an innovative line. The result: clear-cut and lovelily concave lines. The horsebit’s curves exalt the refinement of the 28mm large timepiece. The Gucci label pairs the steel bit with a rigid rounded bracelet, making for an ideal combination. Amongst all the different models available, there is one that features a horsebit encrusted with 92 diamonds, espousing a white nacre dial. Precious. The other pieces in the collection are available in a larger size (34 mm), offering another interpretation of the iconic horsebit. The dials, released in dark red, brown, or adorned with black or white nacre, cozy up with leather bracelets. The sensuality and softness of this watch around your wrist ensures a causal chic look.
