Fred and Henri Samuel: the same smile, the same gaze, the soul of an artist, and most of all, the same passion: sailing. In 1966, Fred Samuel observed his son braiding a line of rope and checking on his shackles before casting his moorings. Being an inventive man, he was inspired by this braided sailor’s rope to create a piece of jewelry: the Force 10 bracelet. This piece gracefully aligns two qualities that are essential to it’s success: creativity and savoir-faire. The authenticity of the bracelet reveals itself through the 1500 threads that gave this braided creation its renown. At the time, the Force 10 bracelet revolutionized the jewelry universe. Fred had the ingenuity to associate two materials that had never before been seen together in jewelry: gold and steel. This union would make the piece a tremendous commercial success.
Today, the design house is going in a new direction and proving that you can wear one of their creations in everyday life situations. Nathalie Bader, outgoing President of Fred, declared “we want a piece of jewelry that’s in your life, this means products that are easy to wear, that don’t snag on your tights, that allow you to take a taxi without being afraid to lose a stud…” True to the spirit of Nathalie Bader, Fred is revisiting the Force 10 collection with modernism and gusto.
This season, the emblematic Force 10 bracelet is setting sail in vibrant colors: bright pink, neon yellow, and tangy orange are all in the mix. This summer, we’re not tired of reconstructing these bracelets with new diamond-incrusted buckles and multi-color bands. The new Force 10 bracelets are très chic, très cool, and très glam; they might just have you sunk in no time!
