It was in 1975 that Poiray entered the very tight-knit circle of jewelers in Paris’ place Vendôme. Their origins would quickly earn them the nickname of “the young girl on the Place Vendôme”, as the boldness and impertinence of their choices led to a reputation that was counter to anything else happening in the jewelry world. In just a few years, Poiray would definitively leave its mark on the “traditions and customs” of this world, turning the rules upside down with fine stones in sizes that had been seldom used prior. Whether through pear, cabochon, or navette cuts, watchmaking forever changed with the Ma Prenière watch. In 1985, the year of its release, it was already an icon: a knurl bezel, an interchangeable bracelet, and sinuous “tress” rings marked Poiray’s style. Uniting simplicity and elegance, they often oscillate between opulent colors and pure lines, a certain playfulness that makes for timeless elegance.
Through their refinement and lightness, these pieces espouse the movements of the body, respond to the lines of the neck, and interlace the undulations of the wrist. It’s a skin-tight work of calligraphy on which time itself is grafted. Lined with grey and boasting a steel casing, today Poiray is offering a few new relief dials. All while reusing the knurl, the emblematic motif of its collections, Poiray is releasing it here in a steel or steel and diamond version. The result is a two-fold one: the steel Ma Première with knurl motif and diamonds, or the steel Ma Première with knurl motif. The watch immediately takes on a singular emotion: the story of those who wear it. As a memory of an affair or a chance meeting, this timepiece is ideal.
