The Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain, has been posing for the campaign of the new fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent. The perfume, called Manifesto is causing a stir with the glamorous yet unusual images. The campaign shows Chastain with purple paint spilling down her hands and a purple smudge in the corner of the shot, a colour which is reminiscent of opulent jewels and matches that of the fragrance bottle. Stephen Bezy, general manager at Yves Saint Laurent Beaute at L’Oreal Plus, has said that the advertising campaign shows off Chastain’s grace and power and that “she’s really an Yves Saint Laurent woman”.

Manifesto is a fragrance that combines hints of Jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood and white flowers, with the woody scent of florals and orientals. It is perfect for the glamorous and powerful woman, who loves to work hard, lunch with friends, go shopping or play foxy bingo in her spare time. The brand was established in 1962 by Yves Saint Laurent and partner Pierre Bergé and is the go-to brand for many a classy woman. It is currently in the process of being modernised to appeal to a younger market, by having the name changed to Saint Laurent Paris.

By appearing in the advertising campaign for an Yves Saint Laurent fragrance, Chastain is following in the footsteps of supermodel Kate Moss and actress Emily Blunt, who have both also been ambassadors for the classic brand. Chastain is known for appearing in many films, including The Help and The Tree of Life. She is currently promoting her new film, Lawless, where she stars alongside Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Guy Pearce. She brings a great air of glamour and class to the fragrance campaign, with her overall demeanour being perfect for the brand.
