Under the direction of British design legend Jony Ive, who we can thank for the iPhone and the iPod among others, these experts the world over had the exciting inaugural task of creating one of the latest technological innovations of our time. With their watch, Apple intends to turn the rules of our world upside down, once again. By equipping its timepiece with a touchscreen where a single swipe of the finger is all it takes to navigate and choose an application – now with a new rounded look – Steve Jobs\u2019 brand is bringing the world a new feat of design that is not just pretty to look at but simply enrapturing. The use of a \u201cdigital winder\u201d was rethought; the function that normally adjusts the hands on the side now becomes a way to zoom in on the icons or swipe through pages. The screen is layered with sapphire monocrystal, the hardest material after transparent diamond.<\/p>\n
Verify the alignment of the planets with the tip of your finger, send the sound of your own heartbeat to a loved one; a vibration alerts the user of a new notification, and then all it takes is the flick of the wrist to start it up. Apple also highlighted two apps developed exclusively for the Apple Watch: Fitness and Workout. The first follows your activity, the second is geared towards getting you active. Could this watch be a new sort of health coach? The exact nature of these functions will only be revealed with the watch\u2019s eventual release onto the market, for which we\u2019ll have to wait a bit longer.
