Lacoste Polo: The Icon And The Concept Of “Apr\u00e8s-Court<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Inspired by the Apr\u00e8s -ski concept, the Roland-Garros-lacoste collection 2022 initiates a new lifestyle around the “Apr\u00e8s-Court”. Louise Trotter’s idea was drawn directly from the sporting heritage of Lacoste. Because if the house is named after the tennis player Ren\u00e9 Lacoste<\/a>, it is more than a coincidence… Ren\u00e9 Lacoste, the champion, is the man behind the house and the iconic polo of the same name.<\/p>\n\n

In the 1930 s, Ren\u00e9 Lacoste Ren\u00e9 Lacoste did not manage to exercise the full range of his game in the outfits in force at the time In 1933, he designed the very first cotton polo shirt. Ren\u00e9 Lacoste cut the sleeves of his shirt in jersey. And quickly, he came up with the idea of a new fabric for the time: the petit piqu\u00e9. The Lacoste style was born.<\/p>\n\n

The Petit Piqu\u00e9 is a revolutionary mesh designed by Ren\u00e9 Lacoste – the polo<\/a> is ideal for tennis because it is comfortable and elegant.<\/p>\n\n

Ren\u00e9 Lacoste has an impact on the very codes of the urban wardrobe by introducing the polo shirt as an element just as chic as a shirt. The L.12.12 polo shirt then became an everyday item. The crocodile became Lacoste’s signature when Ren\u00e9 Lacoste asked the designer Robert George to design the symbol of his game. The crocodile thus stylised – Ren\u00e9 Lacoste immediately had it embroidered on all his blazers.<\/p>\n\n

In 2022, Lacoste will celebrate this fashion and sport heritage during the Roland Garros tournament.<\/p>\n\n
