Today, the brand is reinforcing its ties with Mademoiselle Chanel\u2019s favorite accessory. The designer, in her first jewelry collection (1932) \u201cBijoux de Diamants\u201d said she wanted to \u201ccover women in constellations\u201d. An astral theme was at the center of the collection and sounded out like a refrain in each of the pieces put on display for more than thirty thousand visitors. The lion, another reference point and Gabrielle Chanel\u2019s astrological sign, also started showing up recurrently in her creations. The designer herself declared, \u201cI\u2019m a Leo, and like the lion I take my claws out to prevent myself from getting hurt.\u201d A solar symbol of protection, the lion inspired Mademoiselle Chanel. This historic jewel is intrinsically tied to Chanel\u2019s lexicon.
