US Open: Prestigious Tennis<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

As the US Open Tennis Championships takes place in Flushing Meadows Park till 12 September 2021, we are now coming back to the fourth and last Grand Slam tournament! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Australia Open, the Stade Roland Garros<\/a>, and the Wimbledon<\/a> championship, the US Open is the fourth and the last level of the annual Grand Slam Tennis Championship…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Open: Itinerant Tournament Since 1978<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The history of the US Open starts in 1881. In Newport Casino de Rhode Island, the National Lawn Tennis Association of the United States organizes a national competition that was first played on the lawn<\/a>! The change of the coating of the surface, which is now iconic for Wimbledon, continued from 1881 to 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 1974, in the meantime, the tournament took the name of the US Open; in 1968 took place on the clay court. And here it is, the inherent coating in Roland Garros<\/a> does not really appeal…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1978, a fast hard-court surface called DecoTurf has become to be used at the US Open Tournament. That year, the US Open, itinerant until that time, finally decides to settle in Flushing Meadows Park permanently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1968 marks also the first US Open edition as we know it now \u2014 professionals and amateurs are invited to compete together. Arthur Ashe and Virginia Wade became the first champions of the US Open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main court at the US Open was consequently named the Arthur Ashe Stadium \u2014 a 22,000-seated arena where champions from all over the globe have tennis competitions…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Open: The Emblematic Champions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many breath-taking matches were held at the US Open, but three of them will be mentioned here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spectacular final between to titans of tennis \u2014 Bjorn Borg versus John McEnroe in 1981. If the path of these outstanding players is revealed on the pages of great, specifically selected here<\/a> books by Icon-Icon, the final will be more than just a word!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Memorable for what it has already shown… The victory of John McEnroe in four sets… John McEnroe, 22-years-old, played with Bjorn Borg, 25-years-old. Explosive characters of both players made that match stunning \u2014 the match that ended by a disappointment of Bjorn Borg who left the court and the stadium without participating in the ceremony after the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1988, the Grand Slam was won by Steffi Graf, who brought the spirit! And marked the annals of tennis!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steffi Graf appeared to become the fifth player (and the third woman) closing the Grand Slam having won Gabriela Sabatini at the final of the US Open in 1988. Four major plays titles were given that year \u2014 but no one was able to finish the Grand Slam since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is another image of the US Open etched even now in memory depicting Andr\u00e9 Agassi dissolved into tears after the last match in his career… The UN Open 2006 managed to highlight the culmination point of the career. In 2009 known for an unexpected loss maintained in the history of the US Open. Roger Federer won the trophy in the men\u2019s singles tournament in 2004 for the first time \u2013 thus, introducing a series of exciting victories in New York. Roger Federer claimed the title at the US Open 5 times in a raw. That was the domination that was not overturned for a while\u2026 Until Federer hit a sang \u2013 Del Potro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20-years-old player ranked No. 7 – Juan Mart\u00edn Del Potro was playing his first final with Roger Federer, who got used to final games and victories. The 17th<\/sup> final, the 18th<\/sup> Grand Slam tournament; with 15 great titles claimed\u2026 Federer was favored to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first surprise came when Federer, who had won the first set rather routinely, let 5-4, 30-0 lead slip away in the second set \u2013being, actually, overturned by Juan Mart\u00edn Del Potro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, Federer is going to beat Del Porto in the 7th<\/sup> time\u2026 Leading 5-4 in the fourth set and having a 15-30 lead on Del Potro’s serve\u2026 Federer could not close this match out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we were to count all the records established by champions of the US Open we would find out that… the IS Open has won 5 times \u2014 a record! \u2014 by 3 men in men\u2019s singles: Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, and Jimmy Connors. And females on the other side: Chris Evert and Serena Williams have got the US Open trophies 6 times.
