Glamorous ever since these pieces were enthroned at Versailles in 2008, it\u2019s through his work that kitsch makes its way into art. By choosing popular objects, Jeff Koons recalls cartoons, toys, and more generally the memories and dreams of one\u2019s childhood. Through the magic of his creation, what the artist hopes for is to get a rise out of adults. Between 1994 and 2000, he undertook the creation of a series of five fake inflatable toys, each a different metallic color.<\/div>\n<div>With its perfect finishing touches, the Balloon Dog seems so light. In reality, the heaviness of its material was a cross between the work of a sculptor and that of a balloon animal maker: a monument measuring 3.9 meters, made of polished steel with a mercurized effect, released in blue, yellow, magenta, red, and orange. This last color option, previously owned by New York billionaire Peter Brant, is perhaps the most wanted of them all, since its color explicitly makes reference to the era of Andy Warhol\u2019s mythic Marilyns. On November 12th, the piece will once again be put on the art market.
