The history of the jeweler Tiffany\u2019s & Co starts in the middle of the 19th century; when Charles Lewis Tiffany<\/a> borrows $ 1,000 from his father to open a small stationery and novelty store in midtown Manhattan. Very quickly, the boutique became a must for elegant ladies looking for discreet attires. It must be said that the fashion was then Victorian opulence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appeal of the Tiffany boutique is nested in Charles Lewis’ different approach – the man enjoys using 92% pure metal, he travels the world and visits exhibitions in search of the most precious stones . He cuts diamonds and other rubies according to their brilliance rather than the weight of the carats. Thus in 1867 he received international recognition by winning the grand prize for silver craftsmanship at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. But the story of Setting, an absolute icon of the Tiffany\u2019s & Co repertoire, appears twenty years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiffany’s As A Trendsetter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 1886, the fashion for jewelry was still that of the Victorian era – heavy decorations and engravings almost drowned out the brilliance of the stones. Charles Lewis Tiffany would soon change the equation. What he’s looking for is a discreet way to let his treasures shine brilliantly- Charles Lewis Tiffany wants the stone and the one stone to amaze the world! He then imagines the Setting;<\/a> a ring that lifts the stone; six pins that lift it up to maximize its fire and sparkle. With the minimum of metal possible, the founder of Tiffany\u2019s & Co manages to highlight the stone. Better, the diamond here rises as if it were floating above the metal … The Setting was born, and its legend is not long in becoming anchored in the collective imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Setting becomes the ideal wedding ring, as the jewel reveals and captures all the brilliance of a pure diamond. Charles Lewis Tiffany’s innovation lies in the fact that he manages to design an engagement ring that has become the absolute symbol of love and commitment – a simple ring that hides nothing, only revealing and shining. And in 2016, the ring has not lost any of its grandeur. Throughout its history, the Tiffany Setting has indeed been able to maintain and embellish its original design: a brilliant-cut diamond stitched and raised by six platinum claws.
