There\u2019s a new iconic bag in sight at Tod\u2019s. At least that\u2019s what one might gather from the launch of the new Double Stripe collection, a line of bags entirely dedicated to men. After occupying center stage thanks to its cult classic moccasins, Diego Della Valle, an intrepid visionary, has enlarged his Italian empire by this time attacking leather goods. It\u2019s a promising collection, the brand\u2019s newest pride and joy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1978, Diego Della Valle, grandson of a shoemaker, brought Tod\u2019s its renown with his driving shoes<\/em> complete with their 133 rubber pebbles: the Gommino. These easy-to-wear moccasins were quickly adopted by a number of celebrities. From Princess Diana to Nicolas Sarkozy and actors like Hugh Grant in between, they\u2019re still one of the brand\u2019s signatures today.This great visionary, nicknamed \u201cSuper Diego\u201d by the Italians, transformed his small family business, created in the 40s, into a veritable luxury empire. The label evolved and was no longer content to make its original moccasins. Nowadays, it\u2019s a line complete with leather goods, ready-to-wear, jewelry, and glasses offered to an increasingly loyal clientele.<\/p>\n

In 1997, the brand\u2019s first bag, the D-bag, came out. It was released in five sizes. It\u2019s goal? Adapt itself to each and every woman, to each morphology, as well as to each way to carry it. And today, for its Spring\/Summer 2013 collection, the brand is presenting us the Double Stripe bag for men. This exclusively male bag, in supple veal leather with a double strap, was inspired by the modern man\u2019s need to possess a functional accessory, able to adapt to a multitude of uses and situations all while being the pinnacle of elegance. Conceived for night and day alike, for professional activities, business trips, or weekend outings, this collection is first and foremost the reflection of flawless quality, the fruit of an exemplary Italian savoir-faire and exceptional primary materials. Nothing is left up to chance, explains Roberto, a stylist who\u2019s motto \u201cworking well with passion while paying attention to details\u201d fits in perfectly at Tod\u2019s.<\/p>\n

In order to offer a varied line able to blend with any profile, to the personality of each and every one, Diego Della Valle has released nine different bags within the Double Stripe collection including a weekend bag, a portfolio case, a sports bag, a satchel with shoulder strap, two types of briefcases, and a messenger bag. The collection also offers a vast choice of colors: six offerings from green to a contemporary brown in addition to black, red, and blue. Moreover, the bag\u2019s double strap can be personalized with a line of 12 colors. It would be impossible for any man not to find the perfect color combo. A monogram on the leather label, sewn by hand onto each piece, adds a further element of personalization.<\/p>\n
