Entitled \u201c\u00c0 Travers le D\u00e9sert\u201d, Issey Miyake is introducing its vision for Spring\/Summer 2018 beneath a blazing sun. On the grand stairway of the Universit\u00e9 Pierre et Marie Curie – a place that fits the theme which, according to Yusuke Takahashi \u201clooks like a dune\u201d – the Miyake man is taking on a number of stylish combinations made for action and movement. The label\u2019s iconic codes and fabrics are all here, such as pleats which are this time executed by creative director Yusuke Takashi. \u201cI was greatly inspired by a book from the 70s called Issey Miyake: East Meets West <\/i>and I studied the brand\u2019s archives,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe wide silhouette from those days is back in fashion, but I wanted to modernize elements by using technical fabrics like polyester and nylon,\u201d the designer explained.<\/p>\n
This work with fabrics can be found in a pair of iconic Miyake pleated pants. With a complexion between the movements of the body and that of the fabric, the piece focuses on double-face cotton, a signature of the brand since the 70s. Giving this man freedom, comfort, and the possibility to explore the desert seems to be Yusuke Takahashi\u2019s main idea. It was during one of his own travels in the desert last year that he got inspired. These pants can be read two ways, since a shrinking technique also gives them a wavy effect that traces the curves of sand in the desert.<\/p>\n

This comfort and refinement has long been put forward by Issey Miyake Men who today, thanks to innovative fabrics, are leaving pieces free of any overage.
