In this first chapter we\u2019re delighted to be introduced to the workers of fields of May Rose, the same that travel alongside the brand itself. Since yes, Fran\u00e7ois Demachy brings us along into the fields whose harvests go directly to Dior\u2019s Maison de Parfums. Dior perfumes are thus able to become a veritable postcard of all these travels.<\/div>\n
Like in Grasse, where the May Rose brightens up the hills of the countryside with its delicate hues, Demachy has undertaken turning each of these encounters into a human adventure – the point being to support and animate exceptional, rare, and vulnerable crafts. Fran\u00e7ois Demachy seeks to offer the most exceptional flowers to Dior perfumes. That\u2019s why he jetted off to India to seek out the most precious jasmine, or in the most distant corners of the planet to dig up some bergamot. It\u2019s an era of senses that Dior is inviting us to discover now through each of these four chapters!<\/div>\n

Dior and the rose: Key dates<\/strong><\/p>\n

1900s<\/strong> : In the early XX century Dior\u2019s family buys the awesome manor of \u00abLes Rhumbes<\/a>\u00bb, at Granville, Normandy. Since the early childhood<\/a> Christian Dior<\/a> is surrounded by the roses<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1947<\/strong> : Since the first collections Dior\u2019s rose is fully protagonist of his style. May it be on a hat or a belt, as a garment, as a textile pattern or a work of embroidery. At one point, Dior\u2019s clothes will be roses themselves, because of shape<\/a> and colour<\/a>. The colors of the roses vary from white<\/a> to scarlet<\/a> up to pink<\/a>, burgundy<\/a>, fuchsia<\/a>, yellow<\/a>. Later he will experiments roses in black<\/a>, brown<\/a>, gold<\/a>, blue<\/a>, silver<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1957 \u2013 1988<\/strong> : While Yves Saint Laurent<\/a> gives to Dior dresses a more geometrical but still romantic shape<\/a> through roses<\/a>, Marc Bohan<\/a> will experiment new psychedelic<\/a> shapes<\/a> and colours<\/a> for Dior roses<\/a>. Among his creations, Princess Grace Kelly<\/a>\u2019s civil wedding dress.<\/p>\n

1959<\/strong> : Roger Vivier<\/a> gives birth to the iconic model of shoes \u00abBouton de Rose\u00bb<\/a> or \u00abRose blossom\u00bb.<\/a><\/p>\n

1986 \u2013 1997<\/strong> : Gianfranco Ferr\u00e8 brings Dior\u2019s women in a new era: in his ideal of opulence<\/a> and baroque beauty<\/a> roses are women<\/a> and women are roses<\/a> and the dresses are often flowers themselves<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1995<\/strong> : The iconic \u00abLady Dior\u00bb bag<\/a>. In the following years it will be reinvented and revisited also with the rose pattern<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1997<\/strong> : Peter Marino<\/a> becomes the chief architect of Dior. In his mission of restyling some key locations<\/a> and flagships stores<\/a> of the brand he will widely employ the roses<\/a>. What\u2019s more, walls of roses will become a theatrical setting for the catwalks<\/a> and events<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2010 \u2013 2015<\/strong> : In order to celebrate Christian Dior\u2019s passion for roses Victoire De Castellane gives birth to four different high-jewelry collection dedicated to the beloved flower. \u00abPr\u00e9 Catelan\u00bb<\/a>, \u00abBois des rose\u00bb<\/a>, \u00abRose Bagatelle\u00bb<\/a> and \u00abRoses des vents\u00bb<\/a> are true art masterpieces.<\/p>\n

2013<\/strong> : Dior Perfumes, in cooperation with the botanist Andr\u00e9 Eve, gives birth to the Granville Rose<\/a>. This variety of Rose dear to Dior<\/a> will be from now on used in a variety of Dior\u2019s cosmetic lines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2013<\/strong> : Sofia Coppola signs the new campaign for the perfume Miss Dior<\/a> through her short movie \u00abLa vie en rose\u00bb<\/a>. The commercial portrays Natalie Portman<\/a> surrounded by thousands of Dior roses.<\/p>\n

2014<\/strong> : The master perfumer Fran\u00e7ois Demachy creates for Dior the \u00abRose Precious Elixir\u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n

2012<\/strong> : The Autumn\/Winter<\/a> fall is widely dedicated to Dior\u2019s<\/a> roses<\/a><\/p>\n
