What might a colour smell like, and how could water capture the warmth of sunlight? These questions run through Kenzo\u2019s latest fragrance stories. Le Rouge Flower and L\u2019Eau Ambr\u00e9e return to two defining images of the house: the poppy and an imagined, vibrant water. Four perfumers give these familiar ideas new dimensions, exploring gourmand softness, floral intensity and the meeting of freshness with warmth.<\/p>\n

Since 2000, Flower by Kenzo has given a scent to the poppy, a flower whose image has become inseparable from the house. Le Rouge Flower shifts attention to its petals\u2019 vivid colour. Deep red, with its associations with Kenzo\u2019s Japanese roots, becomes the starting point for an intense feminine composition by Alberto Morillas and Marie Salamagne. Colour provides both the idea and the visual language of this new interpretation.<\/p>\n

Le Rouge Flower, a gourmand composition by Morillas and Salamagne<\/h2>\n

The perfumer behind the original Flower joins Marie Salamagne to explore the relationship between a clean sensation and gourmand warmth. Enveloping musks meet the softness of a rice steam accord, before an amplified rose gives the fragrance its floral presence. Vanilla then brings rounded sweetness, accompanied by the woody intensity of Amberever\u00ae. Kenzo calls this approach a clean gourmand: a composition built around the interplay of softness, floral volume and depth.<\/p>\n

The bottle expresses that intensity through colour. For the first time in Flower\u2019s history, its signature poppy disappears from the glass silhouette. Deep red lacquer and gold lettering create a graphic statement, while a varnished flower brings texture to the matt outer packaging. Franco-Japanese flower grower Masami Charlotte Lavault appears in the campaign, embodying this more assertive expression of the Flower world.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Eau Ambr\u00e9e, golden warmth by Bugey and Bonneville<\/h2>\n

L\u2019Eau Ambr\u00e9e opens onto a different landscape. Thirty years after the arrival of L\u2019Eau Kenzo for women in 1996, and following L\u2019Eau Pure, this unisex fragrance evokes an ocean warmed by the setting sun. Daphn\u00e9 Bugey, who created L\u2019Eau Pure, works alongside Nicolas Bonneville on the new composition. Together, they place aquatic freshness within a warmer, more enveloping atmosphere, imagining light as something almost tangible.<\/p>\n

Fig introduces three expressions of ylang: a gently spicy infusion, a dried-flower extract obtained through Firgood\u00ae technology, and a rich essence. Aquozone\u00ae supplies a cool, luminous contrast, while Ambrox\u00ae and immortelle deepen the warmth. In the base, milky sandalwood meets Tahitian vanilla and the balsamic nuances of benzoin. The droplet-shaped bottle gives the fragrance a fluid outline, maintaining a visible connection to its watery inspiration.<\/p>\n

From red lacquer to amber transparency, the two fragrances reveal Kenzo\u2019s continuing fascination with transformation. A flower becomes a colour; water takes on the warmth of a caress. Nature offers each perfumer an imaginative starting point, with familiar house signatures finding fresh expression through ingredients, texture and light.<\/p>\n
