Thomas Burberry was 21 years old when he founded his couture house. In 1909, he chose Paris a the place to open up a second boutique; 8 Boulevard Malesherbes has hosted Burberry’s Parisian store ever since. So, when Printemps called out to a select few British designers, it was only natural that they entrusted the decoration of their atrium and unforgettable window displays to the London brand’s aesthetics. It’s a celebration of British fashion and its style made of refined eclecticism, just like this label’s oh-so-British pop-up store!

This is just the occasion for couturier Christopher Bailey to approach “London Mania” from a limited-edition collection; it’s also the occasion to see the wise formulation of the legendary trench coat from a different angle. Since become an object of fantasy and mystery, symbol of an alluring sensuality, the trench coat was imaged for and in the image of the army of Great Britain as they positioned themselves on the Northern Front of France. The Burberry trench coat slipped into the Parisian stylistic vocabulary in the 50s, and still hasn’t left it today. None of the coming pieces have as of yet been unveiled. There will only be 52 pieces, among them jeans, leather jackets and accessories; the trench coat should echo the coming Fall/Winter collection, made of laminated leather, no doubt a new allegory for love, after hearts and kisses… But be on your toes: this sale is a temporary one – from August 22nd to October 20th, only at the flagship Printemps.
