Mercedes EQT Concept: The Most High-End Small Electric Utility Vehicle

Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, and the Renault group have been connected by a major technical partnership for years. Synergies of these two manufacturers are numerous, even though there have not been that many of them in recent years. Nevertheless, Some of them are still present in the segment of small utility vehicles and multi-purpose vehicles (MPV).

And this is MPV – MPV concept-cars with Mercedes EQT Concept, to be more precise – the 100%-electric declension of Mercedes T Class, the most high-end small electric utility vehicle which attracts attention today.

It is difficult to believe that this concept car possesses anything connected with Renault Kangoo, as designers of the renowned firm lingered to make the car as attractive as possible.

The outline is particularly meticulous and is obliged, as belonging to the brand, to resemble majorly to the production models. What is remarkable is, first of all, its large “Black Panel” grille, decorated with stars, forming a single piece with optics. Chrome windows frame or taillights connected by a light strip obviously add some charisma.

The presence of flush handles borrowed from the spectacular Mercedes EQS is significant in the look of this model; however, it will not be used in the model of production. Having a five-seat wheelbase, EQT can accommodate two additional seats in the trunk to carry big families.

In a new trunk, the concept integrates an electronic longboard signed by one of the most famous skateboarders, Tony Hawk, and the energy of the model. What could be better than the icon of the skateboard for the future icon of high-end utilities? The cherry on the cake! Under the floor of the trunk, we will find the charging station for the longboard.

The cabin of the standard version should be similar to that of the concept, with a fairly high-end package, chrome touches here and there, and materials of rather good quality for a commercial utility vehicle. We find a touch screen in the center operating under the famous MBUX system with the voice command “Hey Mercedes”. For the most phone-addicted, Mercedes has added USB-A and USB-C ports, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features available.

As for the engine, Mercedes remains quite sparing with information, although we have some ideas of what the production version will embark on. There should be a 102-horsepower engine powered by a battery with a capacity of 44 kWh, which should grant about 300 kilometers to it.

Launched in 2022, the production version of the Mercedes EQT should meet a certain success with large families in its MPV version, and professionals in its utility version – two very different types of customers, but undoubtedly fascinated by the idea of combining usefulness with pleasure, and with a spacious model that does not ignore main notions: comfort and refinement.
