Tod’s newest designer, Alessandra Facchinetti has created a soft and graphic collection for next season, tender and jarring all at once. Her street cred comes from her work at Prada, alongside Muccia, before fine-tuning her skills with Gucci and Valentino. But for Tod’s, Alessandra Facchinetti seems to have found a natural fit, the perfect union between designer and label. Between the two of them there is something indescribable; something just clicks. She brings all the interest and fascination she has for new technology in fashion to the traditional savoir-faire of this Italian brand. The result? A crazily trendy, graphic, and pure ready-to-wear line that still manages to be poetic. On pop art pantsuits or blouses that fall perfectly on the body are featured floral prints and bold colors that add up to a certain sophistication that is very Italian. Among the pieces from the runway was also featured the brand new Cape Bag. A future icon? No doubt about it. Its combination of pastel colors melting onto a supple, ethereal leather is the stuff of dreams. Made using a laser-cut technique that only Tod’s knows how to manipulate to extract a luminous touch of simple elegance, the Cape Bag wavers between feminine sophistication and a unisex approach.

Judging by the words of Alessandra Facchinetti: “With Tod’s, there’s always something comfortable in the pieces“. Something tied to the nonchalance of sportswear perhaps? The collection’s discreet charm remains with the great classics no doubt, but this masterful work of leather orchestrated by the creative director contrasts the idea and assumes a whole new meaning in front of the lens of Michelangelo De Battista. A washed out blue regard, a short tousled square… Sam Rollinson incarnates this Tod’s woman, a mixture of strength, femininity, and nonchalance and natural ease to easily create any and everything that will perfectly fit with the syrupy vibe of next season. Also featured, the photogenic Cape Bag in the luminous glow of Michelangelo De Battista, graphic lines and colors that perfectly wrap up a successful collection.
