When Canadian-born Thomas Wilson founded his company in 1914, he did not imagine that Wilson would become the gold standard of international tennis.

In 1914, the Wilson company was a factory specializing in making tennis and violin strings from animal materials. A year later, under the leadership of Thomas Wilson, the company began to manufacture various equipment and items essential for sports activitie. Football, badminton, baseball, and of course tennis.

But it was after the war that Wilson specialized in tennis – adopting a simple and effective logo … In 1949, the first version of the current logo appeared. Wilson’s name appears to grace the products in a typeface that mimics handwriting. But, to be more compact, Wilson signs its products with the W.

And already, the color of the Wilson logo is red.

During the post-war period, therefore, Wilson specialised its manufacture around tennis balls and innovative racquets. In 1979, the first Wilson tennis balls were used in the US Open tournament. In 2006, the balls officially became the Australian Open tournament balls. And it was in 2019 that Wilson joined forces with the prestigious Roland Garros tournament, for a period of 5 years.
