In 1963, French tennis player Robert Haillet imagined the Stan Smith; the sneakers were officially put on the market a year later under the name Adidas Robert Haillet. But in 1973, the German brand Adidas inked a deal with the Stan Smith brand: in 1978, the sneakers would end up adopting the name Stan Smith by Adidas.

Now this year, the Adidas Originals sneakers are overflowing in originality. After the multiple collaborations that contributed to its resurrection, now the shoe is teaming up with three of the world’s most buzzworthy retailers to renew its legend. For Fall/Winter 2014-2015, the shoe will be given special gold lettering: on the tongue will be engraved the names “Barneys New York”, “Colette”, or “Dover Street Market”. The shoe’s curves remain intact; in this immaculate new version, the Stan Smith is brought down to a strict minimum. This collector’s piece will be distributed in each of the three boutiques starting September 13th.
