A blue carpet runway, carmen lips and grapes print, for her second runway at the head of the chic Parisian label, Julie de Libran imagined a collection with Nouvelle Vague influences. Combining fun with chic, classicism with futurism, the new creative director for Rykiel ordered pretty silhouettes that functioned without an ounce of preciosity. And, since the knits are the very DNA of Sonia Rykiel, Fall/Winter 2015-2016 is just the occasion to re-contextualize the brand’s icon.
Lamé, black, and navy blue: the Sonia Rykiel woman is a subtly primed night owl, who definitely doesn’t want to overdo it. So, in sequins or embroidered into the knits, the stripes play with melting into Sonia Rykiel’s favorite fabric, while the colors look like black without really being black… The whole thing gives off a casual, effective, and powerful look; an emblematic silhouette that is near and dear to the Rykiel clan.
