One thing is sure, and that’s the fact that Hedi Slimane is bringing his rock’n’roll twist to this decade. Yves Saint Laurent said “I create for my era and I try to anticipate for tomorrow.” Slimane creates for tomorrow by taking inspiration from yesterday while taking care to overturn contemporary codes in his wake. This is how, from this steamy past that’s just begging to be reinterpreted, Slimane sets YSL’s DNA in stone: sexy, rock’n’roll, eternally. As an invitation, the guests received a black gold-lined booklet indicating the address of the Carreau du Temple in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement – on the inside, the inscription “It’s going to be a long night.”
For Spring/Summer 2015, the designer is going with ultra portable. And amongst all his looks, the army-chic camouflage Saharienne is a true standout. Patch-style pockets and golden lamé leather cuffs are de rigueur. The Saharienne may have been thought up to bestow an adventurous look upon its wearer, but Slimane takes the interpretation a step further by continuously integrating the glamorous details that create all the desirability of Yves Saint Laurent’s pieces.
