The creative duo at the head of Valentino remains loyal to their muse Marie Antoinette for next season. Inspired by 18th century style, but in a much subtler and more airy essence, Chiuri and Piccioli also opted to trace the style and preciousness of the famed Petit Trianon’s decor on their pieces; this was the “rural” castle where Marie Antoinette would stay to take a breather from Versailles.
This is how painted paper motifs become ready-to-wear prints. The two designers also delivered a soft and oh-so-adorable result. The absolute must-have? A clutch bag accessory in the shape of a fan with a certain insouciant charm. And to promote the artsy direction of their collection, they’re launching a capsule collection at Corso Como in Milan with designs from street artist ZAP, who will also be doing a series of live performances just for the occasion. This “Pop Up REDValentino” space can be visited from September 17th to October 12th.
