Alessandra Facchinetti is inaugurating for Fall/Winter 2015-2016 a rich and more elaborated collection by introducing Tod’s to new worlds. The designer is this time taking inspiration from the Memphis movement – an influential Italian artistic wave in the 80s – and, to the delight of her acolytes, Facchinetti likes to divide volumes into different types of surfaces, fragmenting the appearance of her pieces with textures, fabrics, and colors. More than ever anchored in modernity, Alessandra Facchinetti is also elegantly mixing sporty attitude and luxurious silhouettes. But nothing settles for predictable: far from minimalism, the collection presented remains fresh, charming, and sophisticated.
Subtle and minutely researched, the new Gommino progresses towards an innovative style. The icon here reiterates the cosmopolitan echo of a meeting between sport and sophistication; a piece that today is getting reddened by a deep bordeaux and polished up in the meantime. More masculine, more robust, the platform moccasin is made of a more off-kilter formula, inaugurating a new graphicness in its composition. This is what happens when the rubber pebble-sole gets serrated.
