For Piaget, the exploit has supplanted the unprecedented. It’s only natural then that it is through its emblematic line that the manufacturer is tracing a half-century of quest and conquest of ultra-thin. Quickly become its signature, the Altiplano collection is the expression of a classicism imbued with purity and refinement. The fruit of decades of creativity, and more than a century of bold innovations, the extension of the Altiplano line possesses a rare richness that, this year again, has allowed them to be lauded and awarded prizes at the Salon Internationale de Haute Horlogerie for their most recent timepiece: the new Altiplano date 40 mm, the brand’s latest world record-holder in finesse. As the watchmaker gears up to celebrate their 140th anniversary in 2014, this new exhibit will show the watch off to the public for the first time.

The exhibit, located on the 2nd floor walkway of Printemps’ flagship store, will present a story in perpetual movement. Certain of these pieces hold world records, like the 9P caliber, only 2 mm thin and dating back to 1957, alongside the 12P, released in 1960. The watches that gave the manufacturer its renown are each shown side-by-side with a vintage model. The fabulous watches with hard stone dials and the Altiplano skeleton ultra-thin will ravish the masses with their technical and technological prowess that, combined with a chic and poetic aesthetic, have definitively anchored Piaget’s sophistication in the history of fine watchmaking.
